How to Manage That Overwhelming Feeling Effectively

Updated: Oct 26, 2022

The day is overwhelming for me and I love it!

Said no one ever in the history of life.

Let’s face it – we all get overwhelmed by our daily lives. It’s supernatural, especially given all the things we have to do and take care of.

We have our jobs, we have our family, maybe we even have school, but let’s be honest – we have all of these at the same time!

I was speaking with one of my Astroflipping students and he admitted to feeling overwhelmed in his day to day life.

And guys, I get it!

You probably know that I have a lot going on and I still get overwhelmed sometimes!

But the good thing is – you can get over that overwhelming feeling, that overwhelming hour, that overwhelming day…

And for a lot of us recently, that overwhelming year!

Again, there are ways to push through and come out on the other side.

Coping Mechanisms

My days are crazy on the best days. Whenever we shoot for Triple Digit Flip, I’m on set for at least 8 hours.

Then I have about an hour commute home and on some days, I have one-on-one calls or live calls with my students.

I have about 10-15 minutes of free time where I just do breathing exercises.

Guys, as simple as that sounds, breathing techniques are some of the best ways to center yourself and get back some of the focus that you spent.

Breathing helps to lower your heart rate, lower your blood pressure, and really, just overall, lower your stress levels.

That’s the first thing I do.

The second thing I try to do is also very important, but something that really gets overlooked.

I pay attention to what I can and can’t do.

A lot of the time, we as people – as busy people – try to do as many things as we can, even when we don’t have the time or knowledge to do them. And as often as the case, we let the actual important things – like our family or friends – get pushed to the side.

I set clear boundaries.

How to Manage Overwhelming Feelings by Setting Boundaries

I’ve only got so much time in the day and I know what I can and can’t do. But that’s why the boundaries are there.

Believe me, boundaries become the place that is the most difficult to enforce because we feel guilty. Of course, I feel guilty that I can’t respond to every text message from a student I get.

But here’s the thing dealing with boundaries – if someone is overstepping a clear boundary, they know they’re doing it.

They just don’t care.

And it’s your job and my job to make that person or those people care.

And that’s it, guys. Those are the two coping mechanisms to overcome that overwhelming feeling:

  • Breathing techniques

  • Putting up boundaries

The business that we’re in can add to that overwhelming feeling, especially if you’re new to wholesale real estate.

You don’t have to do this alone!
