The Fundamentals of Wholesaling: Get Back to Sexy Selling

When you think wholesaling, does the word ‘sexy’ come to mind?


Most likely the answer to that is, “no, absolutely not” and you wouldn’t be alone in thinking that.


Because everyone wants their business to be ‘sexy’ and the sexier it sounds, the better it will do, right?


Wrong!


When I first started in wholesaling, I thought it was the bottom of the barrel; it wasn’t ‘sexy enough’ to be the successful career and business that I wanted to impress people.


Having the ‘glamorous’ business, job, or job title doesn’t mean you’ll be successful. And trust me, I’ve learned that the hard way.



Why You Should Always Stick to the Fundamentals of Wholesaling



I’ve made millions of dollars in my lifetime.


And I’m blessed to be in a business where I can make money, provide for my family, and do it all with something I love to do.


But when I first started and I was making millions of dollars, I didn’t want to be a wholesaler; I wanted to be a real estate developer.


I wanted people to go “Oooh!” when I told them I was a developer and not “Huh?” when I said I was a wholesaler.


And let’s be real – wholesalers, and wholesaling in general, gets a bad rap thanks to people who took advantage of others.


And I didn’t want that.


So I fell into the trap of wanting something different, of wanting to ‘elevate’, and that’s what led me to converting apartment buildings.


And you know what?


When the market turned, I lost millions of dollars. In fact, in just 3 months, I lost $12 million dollars.



Let me repeat that.


I lost $12 million dollars in just 3 months. And that was just as a developer; that doesn’t even cover the loss of my parents’ house or other people who lost their homes.


If you were a part of that, you know and understand; if you haven’t or didn’t, can you imagine what that does to you physically, emotionally, spiritually, and mentally?


Saying it’s the worst is an understatement.


But that’s what happened; I fell into the trap and if I had just stuck to the fundamentals of wholesaling, I wouldn’t have lost so much.


Why are wholesaling fundamentals important?


Because you stop listening to others on what you should be doing and you just start doing.


As wholesalers, we know we can make money when the market is up, when the market is down, and everything in between. And we can mitigate how much money we lose.


I am adamant about teaching my students in AstroFlipping the fundamentals of wholesaling because I don’t want them to go through what I did.


I want all of my students to succeed by telling them the most effective and efficient ways to find leads, find buyers and sellers, and how to close.


My mistakes are their learning points that lead to success.


Guys, don’t try to find a business or make a business sexy just because people tell you to.


Some of the most famous innovations and businesses happened because the owners didn’t follow what people told them.
